Your Mission

  • Supports the Program Manager by lead the completion of Unity’s structural modifications and sustainment work packages
  • Responsible to the Program Manager for meeting program scope, schedule, and cost requirements relevant. Key focus area is aircraft structures – must have working knowledge of deliverables from stress and design engineering
  • Leads the cross-functional team to complete projects within the program and coordinates with other stakeholders in the program team.
  • Work with the Unity program team, scheduling team, engineering team, manufacturing team and flight operations to assure smooth transition from engineering release to planned modification.
  • Coordinate the efforts between all internal functions and vendors to properly support the master schedule.
  • Resolve conflicts in schedule and resources with functional managers.
  • Proactively maintain and track program risks and opportunities and provide mitigation plans as needed – communicates this to the Program Manager
  • Develop and implement recovery plans by working with all functions to implement these plans when the project gets off schedule
  • Regularly report to executive leadership, internal and external customers and the wider organization the projects status and performance
  • Other duties as required in support of the Program Manager and program requirements

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or similar Engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
  • 10+ years industry experience in progressive program management roles – projects or aircraft structures
  • Energetic, passionate and organized program leader ready to lead a project through the full lifecycle
  • Experience providing leadership and management for multidisciplinary teams of engineering, manufacturing, and business support personnel
  • Demonstrated success managing aerospace programs and projects of flight vehicles
  • Experience with production of aerospace vehicles
  • Engineering experience of aerospace vehicles structures
  • Experience in composite manufacturing
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in a complex environment with multiple priorities as well as a disciplined production setting
  • Experience with logic linked scheduling and Cost Account Management
  • Experience with IMP/IMS, risk management, configuration management, requirements management processes
  • Experience in budget management and reporting
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
  • Self-directed with demonstrated passion for space and aerospace development.
  • Resourceful and entrepreneurial to continually elevate Virgin Galactic’s Spaceship Program Team
