Your Mission

Virgin Galactic is seeking a talented and motivated Group Lead for the Avionics Test team. The Group Lead is an entry-level manager who will lead and manage an engineering team of 4-10 avionics test engineers. The scope of the avionics engineering team includes: flight avionics hardware; signal conditioning; data acquisition; actuator control; RF communication; wire harnesses; vehicle guidance, navigation, control; fault tolerance; ground-support electronics hardware and software; and integrated vehicle health monitoring. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing in the aerospace or related fields and will have some experience leading a team. We are looking for a generalist who will contribute to several roles in a fast-paced environment.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of Avionics test engineers
  • Oversee the development of Avionics test equipment
  • Review and approve test bench designs, including electrical schematics and software
  • Review and approve test plans and test reports
  • Coordinate and report on testing efforts across engineering disciplines
  • Mentor more junior avionics test engineers
  • Troubleshoot test setups using schematics, multi-meters, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Triage test failures

What you bring

Educational Requirements:

  • Must have a B.Sc. Engineering degree from an accredited university

 

Knowledge/Experience:

 

  • Experience with HWIL testing of embedded systems
  • Experience designing test benches
  • Experience troubleshooting test equipment
  • Experience with LabVIEW and/or Python

 

Professional Requirements:

  • 3 or more years of relevant testing experience in aerospace or similar field
  • Experience with embedded system hardware and software
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and written communication skills
  • Applicants must be U.S. persons as defined by the ITAR (22 CFR §120.15)

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15) or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
