Your Mission

Your mission is to represent Virgin Galactic while looking after our Food and Beverage (F&B) needs both in Las Cruces as well as spaces throughout Spaceport America. You will be coordinating our operational F&B requirements while delivering amazing service to our guests and our teammates.

 

Reports to: You report to the GM of Astronaut Experience.

 

What does it take to become part of our team?

 

Your impeccable, friendly service kicks off our customers’ journey into space! You will be able to work well operationally, supporting the F&B operation from both the front of house as well as back of house. Your abilities to multitask and prioritize are essential and you always bring a smile to work. You are organized, creative, and super passionate about hospitality. You are an experienced F&B professional who loves anything to do with food and drinks! You support the daily operations by coordinating orders, deliveries, and upkeep of F&B areas throughout. You monitor quality standards and service, as well as work on restaurant related training manuals. Responsibilities include ordering, maintaining service standards, product quality and cleanliness, handling quality and service, managing supplies, and resolving inconsistencies in operations or orders.

What you bring

General

  • Your work hours are generally dayshift from Monday to Friday, however we do operate 7 days a week meaning there is a chance there will be weekend days included in the schedule now and then.
  • 1+ years F&B or customer service experience
  • Ability to work 6+ hours on your feet at a time
  • In possession of a valid driver’s licence
  • In possession of a valid food handlers’ certificate
  • Team player who looks for ways to help out other teammates whenever needed
  • Willingness to work a holiday if required
  • Actively engages in training sessions, also reviewing and updating the SOPs
  • Creates, executes, reviews and updates opening and closing checklist(s)
  • Pays detailed attention to uniform and grooming guidelines

 

Job specific

 

Warehouse and Green Offices (both upstairs and downstairs)

  • Ensure the hospitality area is keep clean and organised
  • Unpack deliveries when required and store in the correct area.
  • Ensure all F&B related items are stocked twice a week
  • Ensure kitchen area and fridge items are checked and kept in good condition
  • Support with special lunches/events at location

Spaceport America

  • Ensure the hospitality area is keep clean and organised
  • Place orders through Ultramain
  • Communicate weekly lunch numbers to Chef
  • Assist supply chain with deliveries when required
  • Store deliveries in correct places (i.e. food in fridges/freezers)
  • Follow health and safety guidelines when receiving food
  • Upkeep the restaurant area
  • Host guests in the restaurant
  • Support the catering company (Chef Tatsu) during lunch hours
  • Prepare lunch buffet ready for the catering company
  • Prepare lunch tables for team lunch
  • Fill water bottles from filtration system
  • Actively Manage the lunch service
  • Making menu recommendations, answering questions, and sharing additional information
  • Ensure all dirty dishes are being removed from Restaurant area into the designated trolleys or straight into the kitchen
  • Assist in manning the dishwashing station
  • Assist in cleaning kitchen end of shift when required
  • Store clean cutlery and crockery
  • Polish glassware and store accordingly
  • Proactively up-keeping the ‘Breakroom’ F&B Facilities (inventory, cleaning, tidying and restocking)
  • Communicate with Daily Ops desk and catering company on schedules and lunch numbers
  • Provide detailed information when asked (e.g. about portions, ingredients, or potential food allergies)
  • Prepare meeting areas with F&B supplies when required
  • When relevant, take accurate food and drink orders, using a POS ordering software (order slips or by memorization)
  • Communicate order details to the kitchen
  • Serve food and drink orders
  • Check dishes and kitchenware for cleanliness and presentation, report any problems
  • Arrange table settings and always maintain a tidy restaurant area
  • Meet with fellow F&B staff to review daily specials, changes on the menu and service specifications for reservations (e.g. events)
  • Follow all relevant health department and COVID regulations
  • Support events offsite when required

 

NOTE: The job scope will change and evolve towards the milestone of the start of commercial service. As the team will grow, your job role might evolve.

 

ITAR Requirements

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15) or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Physical and/or Additional Requirements

Must be able to work all shifts and available for overtime as well as weekends when needed

Must be able to stand for extended periods – 9 hours min

Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and being able to manoeuvre in tight spaces

Physically able to handle items weighing up to 40lbs (unassisted)

Must be in possession of a up-to-date food handler's certificate
