Who You Are

TSC is seeking first rate composites shop technicians to work in our Materials and Process (M&P) lab. With a heavy focus on composite test coupon/ test article production. This role is for a hands-on person with great attention to detail and excellent people skills. The first task of this role will be to learn and understand the unique bonding and assembly processes used in the production our aircraft and spacecraft. The technician in this position will work from engineering drawings and detailed work instructions to fabricate top quality, high precision test articles and coupons, which will later be used by our test lab. 

Your Mission

  • Composites material handling: cutting composite fabric with scissors, laying up composite fabric by hand to create test articles/test coupons with various purposes, weighing resins and hardener, measuring locations on tools to locate composite fabric per engineering drawings, bagging around the part, then putting parts under vacuum to help consolidate plies and to ensure part takes shape of tool during oven cure, etc.
  • Cleaning, hand sanding composite surfaces, hand finishing parts to meet drawings and with precise specifications, hand trimming, wet layup (using adhesives and fabrics), applying adhesives, etc.
  • Work with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to record job status, time spent, and material tracking

What you bring

  • Must be a self starter
  • Strong ability to work independently as well as the member of a team
  • Experience with composites or aircraft fabrication and assembly preferred
  • Hands-on experience in a precision yet manual manufacturing setting strongly preferred
  • Must be able to take direction well
  • Extreme attention to detail and a continual pursuit of perfection
  • Excellent listening and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing philosophies and tools a plus
  • Experience with manufacturing-based ERP systems a plus
  • Strong safety work ethic – recognizes the importance of properly handing hazardous materials, chemicals, tools, etc.
  • Enjoys manual/physical labor
