Headquartered at Mojave Air and Space Port in Mojave, California, it is building and testing a fleet of WhiteKnightTwo carrier aircraft and SpaceShipTwo reusable spaceships that, together, form Virgin Galactic’s human spaceflight system. Who You Are

TSC is seeking a first rate, qualified Materials Handler for our Weekend Shift to play a role in facilitating the movement of the equipment and supplies necessary to establish and operate the world’s first commercial manned spacecraft production company. The Material Handler will use computerized inventory tracking of controlled stores and consumable inventory movement activities in the stock room, kitting of materials and consumables for production, ensuring efficient quantities of materials on hand for production, and deliveries to internal stakeholders. Candidate’s duties will also include processing incoming paperwork,incoming inspection of receivables, verification of proper certification, verifying receipt count of shipments, internal material movements, replenishments of POU racks and tool crib duties as required. Ideal candidates should have a work history that demonstrates their ability to successfully work in an environment that requires exceptional attention to detail, the ability to multi-task, have excellent computer skills, have good customer service skills, and have prior experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment.

Your Mission

  • Maintain accurate inventory, performing cycle counting, and physical inventory of stock.
  • Perform accurate transactions in ERP system for issuing materials to appropriate cost center projects & ensuring proper authorization is received for high cost materials.
  • Perform regular cycle counting and investigate discrepancies over a threshold level.
  • Responsible for inbound receiving. Accurately receive all inbound deliveries into ERP System and maintain records of all receipts in compliance with TSC requirements. Verify all incoming documentation and applicable certifications are correct.
  • Responsible for timely delivery of all packages that include stock and non-stock items. Interact with internal stakeholders to resolve errors and inconsistencies in shipment files.
  • Responsible for outbound shipping. Pack and label outbound shipments and maintain all shipping records in compliance with TSC requirements. Schedule carriers for timely pick-up of shipments to meet customer requirements.
  • Ensure shipment documentation is accurate, to avoid delays in delivery.
  • Requisition supplies for shipping & packing needs.
  • Work cohesively with Procurement and Product Management personnel to ensure on-time delivery of material and products to meet customer needs.
  • On-going improvement of processes for shipping, receiving, kitting, and cycle counting.
  • Assist Facilities team on special projects as needed.
  • Accurately pick/kit material components supporting production work order builds. Responsible for on-time delivery of all kits & material components to internal and external manufacturing locations. Distribute material shortage reports in advance of builds and utilize substitute components as directed. Ensure materials are counted back accurately when returned from production, scrap is charged to the production order and materials are returned to stock.
  • Support local pick-up and delivery requirements w/in 200 miles of the facility as needed.
  • On Call Coverage for emergency shipments or receipts is required.

What you bring

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Experience in high technology, advanced materials or aerospace industries preferred
  • Good written/verbal communication skills, strong analytical skills
  • Strong experience with material movement and computerized inventory management (Oracle preferred)
  • Familiar with working with freight delivery companies (FedEx, UPS, trucking companies, door to door expedited delivery companies, etc.) and significant experience in shipping
  • Physically able to unpack, pack, lift, and transport boxed items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Able to operate a manual pallet jack and move loaded skids weighing up to 200 pounds
  • Able to operate a lift truck is a plus, but not a requirement - training will be provided
  • Familiar with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Familiar with use of e-mail, including sending attachments
  • Knowledge of EAR and ITAR requirements for international shipments is a plus
  • Effective organizational skills in dealing with incoming, outgoing, & customer owned products
  • Able to successfully keep multiple tasks running simultaneously
  • Works well with people, both internally and externally, and at all levels of the organization
  • Able to prioritize and consistently meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate effectively via the phone, email, etc.
  • Self-starter with a willingness to learn new things
  • Able to provide constructive feedback and creative solutions to problems
  • Excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to hold and maintain a valid California Driver’s License

Physical and/or Additional Requirements

  • Must be able to work overtime as required. Start and stop times may be flexible.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and being able to manoeuvre in tight spaces.
  • Ability to accurately lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and occasionally lift and move 50+ lbs.
  • Must be able to operate a manual pallet jack and move loaded skids weighing up to 200 pounds

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15) or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
