Virgin Galactic (VG) is seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist who can thrive under minimal supervision. The QA Specialist applies the standards, principles and techniques of auditing to examine, question, evaluate and report a quality system’s specified criteria. This QA Specialist will analyze all elements of the quality system and judges its degree of adherence to the criteria management and quality systems have adopted.


This role will be located in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Daily work will occur at Virgin Galactic's home of commercial operations at Spaceport America in New Mexico. Any applicant that applies for this role must be living in Las Cruces, New Mexico OR be able to relocate to the Las Cruces, New Mexico area to include the surrounding cities. 



Your Mission

  • Determines the appropriate types of quality audits to conduct based on purpose of the audit and the effect each audit type will have on the audit scope and outcomes.
  • Conducts audits in a professional, ethical, and objective manner using and interpreting applicable standards or requirements, with an awareness of potential legal and financial consequences of improper auditor actions.
  • Plans, communicates, and effectively executes an audit within its defined scope, including scheduling resources, conducting meetings and using appropriate techniques to identify, gather, and classify objective evidence.
  • Verifies, documents, and communicates audit results, develops an audit report, and evaluates the adequacy of the corrective and preventative action plan and follow-up.
  • Conducts interviews, makes presentations, resolves conflict, and facilitates audits performed by other parties.
  • Selects appropriate quality tools and auditing techniques for effective use in a variety of practical applications.
  • Analyzes and disseminates the information collected from audits and corrective action/preventative actions.
  • Maintains Quality Management System (QMS) database results.

What you bring

  • 3 years of experience as an auditor in an aviation / aerospace discipline.
  • Knowledge of Quality Systems at a level typically acquired with a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Advanced knowledge of quality auditing principles, standards and best practices.
  • Intermediate ability to use Microsoft Office Applications; advanced Excel skills preferred. Rules and regulations covered in CFR Title 14 pertaining to transportation, aviation, and space.
  • Think analytically and critically and apply analytical tools to reach conclusions and recommendations.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously: strong interpersonal skills; work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate technical writing skills.
  • Preferred candidates are ASQ Certified Quality Auditor.
  • Preferred candidates have FAA Airframe & Powerplant certificate.
  • Applicants must be U.S. persons as defined by the ITAR (22 CFR §120.15).
