The Spaceship Company (TSC) is an affiliate of Virgin Galactic as a space-system manufacturing organization. Headquartered at Mojave Air and Space Port in Mojave, California, it is building and testing a fleet of WhiteKnightTwo carrier aircraft and SpaceShipTwo reusable spaceships that, together, form Virgin Galactic’s human spaceflight system. Who You Are

TSC is seeking an eager Stress Analysis Engineer with an interest in composite vehicle design, stress analysis, structural testing, and production manufacturing. We are looking for an entry level or recent grad engineer who embraces challenges and strives to learn new skills. The stress analyst’s primary role will be to verify and validate existing designs as structurally sound. Additional support of new design, large scale testing, and materials and processes teams may be required.



Your Mission


  • Analyze structural components, both on existing vehicles and potential new designs, for static and fatigue strength
  • Review vehicle designs and operations to ensure compliance with structural integrity requirements
  • Support large scale structural testing to verify vehicles meet design intent and requirements
  • Support small scale component and material testing to improve analysis methods and manufacturing processes


What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
  • 0-2+ years of applicable experience in the analysis of aerospace structures
  • Knowledgeable in Finite Element Analysis using Femap/Nastran or similar
  • Experience with free-body diagrams and classical stress analysis techniques
  • Familiar with Solid Modeling Software such as CATIA V5 or similar
  • Hands-on experience with composites part fabrication and assembly processes is a plus
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
