Headquartered at Mojave Air and Space Port in Mojave, California, it is building and testing a fleet of WhiteKnightTwo carrier aircraft and SpaceShipTwo reusable spaceships that, together, form Virgin Galactic’s human spaceflight system.     Who You Are

    The Spaceship Company (TSC) is seeking a Business Intelligence Analyst to join our team to foster data driven decision making in our organization to drive better performance, results and customer satisfaction. The responsibilities of this individual will include developing and managing automated dashboard tools for reporting financial performance, departmental operating performances, and a variety of other dashboards aimed at driving process improvement across the company.  In addition to developing automated dashboards, you will work from historical data to develop forecasting parameters to be used for planning budgets, estimating projects, and supporting bids and proposals. Successful candidates will not only bring strong expertise in developing meaningful performance metrics and dashboards, but will also have a good customer service orientation as they interact with the rest of the TSC team.

    Your Mission

    • Create intuitive, simple, and meaningful performance dashboards by creating SQL queries into Oracle data tables and other data sources.
    • Demonstrate where data collection, measurement and analysis can be valuable in informing strategic decisions regarding resource allocation and planning.
    • Provide meaningful metrics and data to assist departments and programs in preparing annual budgets and forecasts as well as identifying areas for continual improvement.
    • Externally benchmarks TSC’s operating performance metrics against industry leading peers.
    • Leverage the latest innovative practices and technology available in business analytics to accelerate TSC’s development.
    • Develop logic based notification tools aimed at catching and flagging erroneous transactions within our ERP system.
    • Supports software testing as required with any financial interfaces.
    • Supports cost and financial modeling.
       

    What you bring

    • 2+ years of relevant SQL programming and dashboard development
    • Experience with Crystal Reports, iDashboards and Power BI is preferred
    • Ability to develop and troubleshoot queries for MS SQL Server, Oracle, and MySQL Databases
    • Strong experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system – Oracle is a plus
    • Assist Finance with streamlining month end and year end closing
    • Provide meaningful metrics, and data, to enable the operations team in preparing annual budgets and forecasts
    • Advanced experience with Excel, Access, and VBA coding is strongly preferred
    • Coordinates with Finance to develop departmental spend vs budget dashboards, and monthly performance reports
    • Develop logic based notification tools aimed at catching and flagging erroneous transactions within our ERP system
    • Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
    • Manage projects with minimal supervision. Proactively addresses actions and issues
    • Excellent verbal, written, and social skills to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
