    Who You Are

    The Spaceship Company (TSC) is seeking an experienced and inspired Deputy Program Manager to support the WhiteKnightTwo (WK2) program, for the modification, upgrade and in-service support of the WhiteKnightTwo carrier aircraft.  This role will be responsible for managing schedule planning, manufacturing coordination, material sourcing and acceptance coordination, budget planning and status reporting of all WhiteKnightTwo program tasks, to support delivery and in-service support for our client, Virgin Galactic.  This position will work closely with various lead engineers and other department leads/ PM’s to ensure all project tasks are supported and executed to achieve their objectives while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

    Your Mission

    • The Deputy Program Manager provides direction and oversight of the WK2 program goals
    • Works with the WK2 Program Manager to deliver the project on time and budget
    • Overarching manufacturing coordination for the WK2 program
    • Work with the scheduling team, engineering team and production control to ensure smooth transition from engineering release to manufacturing and into inventory and delivery.
    • Working with the Build Manager to ensure execution of the build sequence as defined by the engineering release sequence. Responsible for the manufacturing team to provide revised manufacturing need dates to the engineering schedule in the event of issues or scope changes.
    • Identify tooling, materials, resources, vendors, planning, and engineering to work in the most efficient manner possible. Work with engineering, supply chain, tooling, etc. to harmonize the schedule.
    • Work with production control to assure work flow, jobs, outsourced jobs, and required materials are available to support schedule.
    • Coordinate the efforts between all manufacturing functions and vendors to properly support the build schedule.
    • Resolve conflicts in schedule and resources with functional managers.
    • Manage the program risk assessment process
    • Conduct briefings and reviews for the program team and company leadership

    What you bring

    • 5+ years of demonstrated program leadership experience with planning, engineering, production, assembly and systems integration teams, at least 3 of which were in a managerial role
    • Experience with composites fabrication, assembly and systems integration
    • Excellent knowledge of component assembly, both subassembly and final top level assembly
    • Experience with aerospace systems integration, large-scale test and flight test
    • Experience and/or training in lean principals and leading or participating in process improvement workshops or kaizen events
    • Working knowledge of configuration management practices and quality management processes
    • Experience with manufacturing based ERP systems a plus
    • Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the proven ability to lead, motivate and build teams
    • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, combined with a strong commercial acumen to measure the potential impact of each decision
    • Excellent organizational skills, easily capable of effectively juggling and completing multiple tasks at the same time and thrives under pressure
    • Highly autonomous with effective delegation skills
    • Extreme attention to detail and continual pursuit of perfection
