    Who you are

    Virgin Galactic is seeking an incredibly talented, energetic, and experienced Procurement Specialist to join our team to support the supply chain operational requirements. This will include handling the various aspects of operational procurement within the Oracle and Ultramain ERP systems including processing requisitions to awards and contracts, some sourcing and negotiations, monitoring/expediting supply, administrating discrepancies, & other supply chain support.

    You will possess strong analytical, organizational, facilitation, and communication skills and will have demonstrated the ability to collaborate within a group or team environment. You will need the ability to establish and build relationships across all levels and functions of the organization required to positively impact the procurement and operational functions for Virgin Galactic. As a member of the procurement team, you will contribute to both the short and long-range growth and profitability of the organization. You must be a self-starter, have a resourceful attitude, project oriented, able to assess needs, implement strategies, and quickly produce results all while having a high attention to detail. Experiences in a fast-paced start-up environment and/or within the aerospace industry are highly beneficial. 

    Your Mission

    • Responsible for ensuring materials and services are ordered, received, and invoiced in a timely and efficient manner.
      • Responsible for requisition processing to awards and contracts.
      • Monitor and coordinate material flow and expedite as necessary.
      • Resolve order discrepancies associated with Award / Receipt / Invoice.
      • Support material return for damage and/or inspection failure.
    • Supports Category Managers and Procurement Manager in category planning, including pulling research and data collection from many resources for the categories. There is an opportunity for introduction to category management for working side-by-side with the Procurement & Category Managers to gain knowledge of category industries, strategies, and materials.
    • Utilizes Oracle EBS, Ultramain, and various other technical resources as required.
    • Support supplier management initiatives including monitoring supplier health and performance for categories.
    • Support supplier audits as required.
    • Backing team activities including:
      • Supporting the Tactical Procurement and Strategic Sourcing teams as required.
      • Managing some sourcing activities or department projects as required.
      • Has an understanding of and supports awards, contracts, and RFP’s.
      • Sourcing projects that are in process.
    • Promotes communication and collaborations between departments.
    • Some travel will be required for site and supplier visits.

    What you bring

    • Minimum of 3 years of progressive responsibility and experience in procurement, materials management, and/or supply chain management.
    • Knowledge of various procurement methods, strategic sourcing, and supply chain practices.
    • Understanding, execution and supporting the team’s strategies in spares, ground support equipment, operations, and/or hospitality sourcing to support the overall company goals and objectives
    • Excellent computer skills including demonstrated advanced skills with Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Demonstrates a proven record of exceeding customer expectations and identifying opportunities for improvement.
    • Professional, positive approach with demonstrated integrity, and the ability to be assertive without being demanding.
    • Willing to learn new skills and grow within the company. 
    • Valid New Mexico Driver’s license (within 30days of start date) and verification of acceptable driving record by our insurance carrier may be required to drive company vehicles.

    Preferred Skills and Experience

    • Experience in the aerospace (AOG), facility operations, and/or hospitality industry.
    • Knowledge of Oracle EBS, Ultramain maintenance software, or other ERP software programs. 
    • Understanding of export compliance including ITAR as well as import and export processes.
    • Ability to develop sourcing and negotiation strategies as well as conflict resolution and/or mediation skills.
    • Basic understanding of equipment manufacturing.
    • Experience from a start-up environment.


    • Requires a minimum high school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or related discipline is preferred.
    • CPSM and/or CPIM certification a plus.

    Physical and/or Additional Requirements

    • Must be able to work nights and weekends as needed.

    ITAR Requirements

    To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen., lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15) or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
