Who You Are

Safety is the North Star for TSC and central to the success of all of our activities. TSC is in search of a Safety Specialist. Their mission is to successfully integrate environmental compliance and safety into the functional operation of TSC’s facilities – by assisting the TSC Safety Team, to help maintain compliance with Environmental regulations within our facilities. The ultimate goal is to achieve “Continual Safety Improvement” and reduced Environmental impact for our employees and all those affected by our business operations.

 

Your Mission

  • Assist the TSC Safety Team to implement an effective Environmental program to ensure that facility operations are fully compliant with Local, State, and Federal laws/regulations.
  • Provide local environmental oversight through inspections and remediation actions across multiple buildings
  • Support shop personnel in the appropriate management of chemicals and hazardous waste disposal around the facility
  • Assists in waste disposal operations including: Municipal trash, Recyclable materials, Non-Hazardous waste, Hazardous Waste
  • Assists with all Non Hazardous and Hazardous waste manifests, inventories, and track costs, and facilitate waste shipments to approved supplier’s
  • Assists with Satellite Accumulation areas and 90 day storage areas inspections
  • Assist in EH&S training to include Hazardous Communications, Hazardous Waste Disposal, and other safety-related training as applicable
  • Assists with hazardous waste emergency response actions as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating 3E online Safety Data Sheet library
  • Assist in general safety oversight/duties as part of the TSC Safety team
  • Provide input and engage in TSC’s Sustainability Program

What you bring

  • Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in managing Federal/California Hazardous Waste in a fast paced, dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a safety or environmental related discipline preferred.
  • Will also consider a combination of education, certifications, and relevant work experience. Current DOT and EPA certifications a plus.
  • Experience with aerospace and/or composite manufacturing processes is desirable.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel software applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to develop and deliver articulate presentations to groups of all sizes and levels
  • Ability to establish and maintain partnerships across functional areas
  • Ability to serve as an environmental/safety mentor and coach to others
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may occasionally include nights and weekends
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time or work in adverse weather conditions
  • Ability to kneel, squat, reach, climb, and use basic hand tools
  • Ability to periodically lift 50-75lbs
  • Ability to maintain DOT and EPA certifications
  • Ability to meet medical and Cal/OSHA requirements for respirator use  
  • Ability to respond to serious emergency situations, but 24/7 on-call is not required

 

ITAR Requirements

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15) or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
