Headquartered at Mojave Air and Space Port in Mojave, California, it is building and testing a fleet of WhiteKnightTwo carrier aircraft and SpaceShipTwo reusable spaceships that, together, form Virgin Galactic’s human spaceflight system. Who You Are

The Spaceship Company (TSC) is seeking a new member for our team to serve as Associate Avionics Integration Engineer. If you join us in this position, you will assist in the design, routing, and integration of avionics hardware for the LauncherOne small satellite launch program. This role is for a hands-on person with great attention to detail and excellent people skills.

Your Mission

  • Provide engineering support in design, development and test of integrated avionics to support the functions of our launch vehicles
  • Develop, integrate and operate avionics systems for the launch vehicle to meet requirements, company standards and Federal Regulations
  • Assist in connectivity and routing of wiring harnesses and mechanical configuration of top-level assemblies
  • Analysis of mechanical enclosures to include stack-up tolerance, thermal, rigidity, and vibrational modes
  • Maintain traceability of assemblies through design and development while ensuring flexibility in design updates
  • Support engine testing, stage testing, launch, and anomaly investigations
  • Help Virgin Orbit do our part to make the world a better place

  • Performs other duties as assigned


What you bring


  • BS in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace or comparable Engineering in a related field
  • Experience using Unigraphics NX, CATIA, SolidWorks, Pro-E or any other 3D CAD modeling program
  • Experience using Altium, or ORCAD or any other schematic and PCB layout program
  • Analysis experience in mechanical enclosure designs including component stack-up and thermal
  • Hands-on hardware experience in integration of either harness assemblies or mechanical enclosure assemblies
  • Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment
  • Driven, highly motivated, and committed to improvement
  • Ability to add something unique and positive to our team
  • Generally high level of all-around awesomeness
  • Must be able to work all shifts and available for overtime as well as weekends when needed
  • Must be able to travel to test and launch site in Mojave and Florida
  •  Experience with integrated hardware/software system test methodologies
  • Experience in automotive, aerospace, aircraft, or civil dynamics or instrumentation
  • Background in mission planning tools, communication link and Data Product Dissemination
  • Experience in analog, digital or mixed-signal circuit design
  • Passion for space exploration and a firm belief in the utility of affordable access to space
  • Ability to thrive as a ‘one person team’
