Position Summary:

Virgin Galactic (VG) www.VirginGalactic.com is seeking an experienced Human Resource Generalist to provide employee relation expertise, talent acceleration and overall human resources support to the organization. Reporting to the Associate Director of Human Resources, the Human Resource Generalist will provide both hands-on tactical solutions and strategic guidance to management. This is a full-time position at Virgin Galactic’s facility in Las Cruces, NM with training in Mojave, CA for approx. 90 days.

Your Mission

  • Address complex employee relations matters, investigate, where appropriate, and provide appropriate recommendations.
  • Counsel Managers and employees to improve overall people performance
  • Provide guidance and support in administering human resources policies and procedures to ensure that employees receive fair and reasonable treatment to establish a supportive work environment and to avoid potential legal liabilities.
  • Coach line supervisors and managers on dealing with work and people related issues
  • Review and approve all disciplinary actions to ensure consistency, proper documentation, and due process.
  • Provides first line support for all employees’ inquiries. Addresses and resolves employee relations concern in a timely and responsive manner.
  • Develop and report against key HR metrics designed to identify and improve progress against team goals
  • Analyze employee exit interviews and collaborate with management to opportunities for improvement
  • Work closely with HR Associate Director and Training and Development Director to cultivate a positive work environment and develop employee engagement programs
  • Lead talent development activities. Work with management to assess talent and create/review action plans in order to build and retain a high performance culture.
  • Be a trusted resource to managers and employees on a wide variety of human resources topics including policy interpretation, benefits, workers’ compensation, employee investigations, and pay-related issues
  • Assist with enhancing and/or creating new employee incentive and recognition programs
  • Contribute to strategic planning and serve as the primary interface of various HR services, programs, and initiatives.
  • Develop a strong understanding of all company benefits and perks and effectively articulate those to employees and other stakeholders.
  • Process and track leaves of absences and reasonable accommodations.

What you bring

  • At least four years of professional human resources experience required, ideally in aerospace or manufacturing environments.
  • Practical and significant experience in conflict resolution, performance enhancement and employee relations at all levels of a complex engineering and manufacturing organization
  • Comprehensive, thorough knowledge of human resources activities, including payroll, benefits, and California legal compliance
  • Collaborative team player who can communicate effectively with others at a variety of levels within the organization, as well as externally.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Disciplined self-starter with can-do attitude; proactive, resourceful, and detail-oriented with strong follow-through skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills that demonstrate a proven ability to develop relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, both in-person and virtually.
  • Strong skills with the Microsoft Office Suite, as well as experience with HRIS and applicant tracking systems. Experience with Ultipro and iCIMS a plus.
  • Strong work ethic, sense of urgency, steadfast integrity and strident on privacy issues.
  • Flexible and adaptable in an ever changing and exciting environment. Comfortable with ambiguity and evolving processes and programs.
  • Must be a “U.S. person” as defined by the ITAR (22 CFR §120.15).

Education / Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s in Human Resources Management, Behavioral Sciences, Business Administration or other related field required.
  • PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or other relevant certification is a plus.
