Position Summary

Virgin Galactic (VG) www.VirginGalactic.com is seeking a Line Service Technician with experience in aircraft handling, towing, fueling, and fixed-base operations in a general aviation environment. This role will provide logistical support to the Spaceline Asset team and support Spaceline Asset aircraft operations. This is a full-time position at Virgin Galactic’s Mojave, CA test flight facility with permanent relocation to Virgin Galactic’s base of operations, Spaceport America / Las Cruces, NM.

Your Mission

This position is responsible for the handling, care, and logistical support of VG’s Spaceline Asset aircraft which include a Beechcraft Baron and an Extra 300. This position coordinates with maintenance, GSE, and flight operations to properly support efficient flight operations and scheduled / unscheduled maintenance activities. The Line Service Technician will liaise with many internal and external stakeholders and as such is expected to display the highest standards of professionalism with an exceptional customer service delivery.

  • Liaise with Flight Operations to ensure that Spaceline Asset aircraft are prepared and positioned as required for all missions.
  • Ensure Spaceline Asset aircraft are properly fuelled for missions per flight crew direction.
  • Ensure that Spaceline Asset aircraft always reflect VG’s high standards for cleanliness.
  • Accommodate visitor arrivals and ensure visitor aircraft are handled and parked in a safe and secure manner.
  • Transfer Spaceline Asset aircraft between hangars as required.
  • Assist Spaceline Asset maintainers in maintenance activities, which may include preparing aircraft for maintenance, procuring required tooling & equipment, and logistical support.
  • Ensure that all Spaceline Asset support equipment (tugs, tow bars, etc.) are maintained in a condition that always supports safe operations.
  • Assist GSE Fleet Manager with maintaining cleanliness of company vehicles as required
  • Support company operations by expediting critical parts and materials between company facilities and/or local vendors.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

What you bring

Basic Qualifications

  • Must have High School diploma or GED
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Requires minimum 5 years of line service experience handling a variety of aircraft
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Must demonstrate professionalism and integrity
  • Must have excellent customer service skills
  • Must have general knowledge of computers and software: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours and work any shift, including weekends
  • Must be willing to relocate permanently to vicinity of Spaceport America in New Mexico

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • NATA Safety 1st Training preferred

Physical and/or Additional Requirements

  • Must be highly organized and able to handle stressful situations
  • Must be able to sit/stand for extended periods – 8 hours min.

 

ITAR Requirements

  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15) or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
