Who you are

VG is seeking a Program Planner for the development, maintenance and analysis of the Program Master Phasing Schedule and Integrated Master Schedule (IMS). The position will partner with program teams to ensure the schedule/program plan is executable (cost, schedule and technical requirements are fully integrated) and executing as planned. Additionally, the position will provide weekly and monthly planning metrics on schedule status, baseline maintenance, critical path analysis, schedule variance analysis, and network logic validation. The successful candidate will be an advocate in the discipline of program planning and scheduling and must be able to identify and recommend insightful mitigation plans, to ensure the IMS is used as a predictive model and as a valued management tool for the program.

This is a full-time position at Virgin Galactic’s Las Cruces, NM office. The applicant may be required to attend training in Mojave, CA for approximately 30 days.

Your Mission

  • Develop and maintain the Integrated Master Schedule using MS Project
  • Work with developmental and operational teams to identify changes to the plan, making sure schedules are kept current
  • Perform schedule “what-if” analysis to assist decision making
  • Recommend and develop schedule management solutions, processes and procedures to improve the reporting system
  • Perform quality control audits and analysis to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper usage of data for critical path, risk, structure, trend analysis
  • Perform cost analysis duties for assigned projects
  • Prepare and track program performance to operating plan
  • Assist in developing the annual budget

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Business or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in program planning and scheduling across multiple programs. Flight operations programmatic & planning experience desired
  • Mastery of Microsoft Project 2013 (Ability to quickly perform real-time input, navigation and analysis
  • Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills (functions, graphs, pivot charts, vlookup, etc.)
  • Experience with products built during the planning processes [e.g., IMP, IMS, Product Breakdown Structure (PBS), Work Breakdown Structures (WBS)]
  • Mastery of critical path analysis and margin/float management
  • Synchronize and link multiple project schedules for internal and external organizations
  • Work well under high pressure, dynamic and tight deadline situations
  • Tailor and streamline processes to meet organizational objectives
  • Build effective internal and external relationships with a diverse group of users in multiple locations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills combined with excellent follow through and persistence
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills, with the uncanny ability to succinctly articulate complex ideas and concepts and proactively communicate with all levels of management
  • Ability to motivate and influence others, build effective interpersonal relationships, and be able to foster and contribute to a positive and productive team environment
  • Applicants must be U.S. persons as defined by the ITAR (22 CFR §120.15)

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Master’s in Business Administration or related field
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Experience with Risk and Opportunity Management
