The Spaceship Company (TSC) is Virgin Galactic’s wholly owned space-system manufacturing organization. A Systems Engineer is expected to have detailed knowledge that is specialized but not limited to Server, Virtualization and Storage technologies. This position will be responsible for tier 2-3 support across the infrastructure, as well as maintain backup and storage applications across a multi-site environment. The Systems Engineer will ensure efficiency and stability of the infrastructure and will be one of the key players in design, standardization and documentation using industry known best practices. This position requires the candidate to have excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication and documentation skills in order to confidently identify and resolve issues. Since this is a senior lever position, the Sr. Systems Administrator will be expected to play a role in the mentorship and guidance to other administrators and help-desk technicians. Additional responsibilities include mid to high-level knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies and assisting engineers and help-desk teammates with priority incidents in an effort to resolve issues as fast as possible.
Education: 4 year College degree in an IT related field from an accredited college, or equivalent work experience.
Experience: Minimum of 8 years proven knowledge of server, storage, backup and virtualization platforms including Dell server and storage systems, Windows and Linux. Minimum 2 years of working knowledge on LAN/WAN technologies, including Dell hardware, SonicWALL firewalls, layer-3 switches and ISP vendor relations. Minimum 10 years in an IT capacity role including help-desk technician, technical support, system/network administration, etc., with career progression.
