Who you are

Virgin Galactic is seeking a security training and operations specialist with strong experience in coordinating security operations along with training and awareness programs. The purpose of this role will be to support test and commercial flight operations, employee training and awareness programs, program analysis and auditing. Someone with experience in event planning and/or program or project management would be helpful.


Location: This role is based in Las Cruces, NM area but will require a short stint in Mojave, CA for the first few months.

Your Mission

  • Supports as security operations specialist organizing flight day schedules and coordinating team needs to support the operation

  • Primary training and awareness program specialist; maintain and continue to develop the current security training and training tracker plan
  • Works closely with the Security Team to review and update security policies
  • Performs security audits
  • Continuous review of current security policies and provides guidance and assistance for revisions as needed
  • Assists team with site visitor control procedures and general access control
  • Provides assistance with security investigations, report writing and root cause analysis
  • Assists in building and maintaining metrics and monitoring the health of the security program
  • Able to utilize multiple security and emergency systems like CCTV and access control to support operations
  • Willing to support field operations as needed
  • Ability to be liaison between multiple teams, gather data, identify risks and schedule conflictsOther general operations security duties include:
  • Support tours, special event planning, schedule coordination involving multiple groups, and building a schedule to support operations 3 or 6 months out
  • Support Safety, Emergency Response, Family Assistance and Medical Team integrate with Security operations
  • Assist planning for operations in a unique environment that requires development while embracing company culture

What you bring

  • Associates Degree is required; Bachelor’s degree is preferred (ie, airport operations, airport security, aviation technology, business administration, public administration, or a closely-related field)
  • 2-4 years of professional experience in supporting training programs, security operations, dispatch, emergency operations, and/or special event planning/coordination in a fast paced, changing environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills mandatory
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills mandatory
  • Ability to gather data from multiple teams and maintain organization is mandatory
  • Experience in event/special event planning or program or project management is preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all organizations within the company
  • Ability to maintain a professional attitude and overall friendly demeanor in this customer facing role
  • Strong team player with a positive attitude
  • Experience in conducting investigations a plus
  • Familiarity using different types of security access control systems and CCTV
  • Airline or aerospace experience a plus
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment
  • Excellent computer skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
