Your Mission

  • Oversee and manage the aircraft maintenance workload, resources, and activities for an assigned work group or several work groups at line and/or hangar operations maintenance stations.
  • Maintain safety, compliance, dependability, reliability and financial performance.
  • Remain in fair and harmonious relationships within his/her work group(s), the operations management team, internal customers, vendors, FAA, and all business contacts.
  • Direct, administer, coach and coordinate the activities of assigned work group(s) in support of policies, goals, and objectives established by the Space Flight Systems Director of Maintenance, Deputy to Vice President of Operations, Space Flight Systems Engineering Manager, Vice President of Operations and the spaceline.
  • Manage and direct the operation toward its primary objectives by performing the preceding duties personally or through subordinates.

What you bring

  • Associate's and/or Bachelors of Business or related degree is preferred. However, consideration will be given for equivalent aircraft maintenance operational leadership experience
  • A&P License required
  • A successful Line and/or Base station operations track record and experience at a crew chief, tech crew chief, or other related Manager position
  • At least 10 years verifiable hands-on experience spent in the repair, maintenance, overhaul or manufacture of narrow body, business jet or military aircraft
  • Minimum of 4 years of direct management experience in maintenance arena
  • Experience with composite aircraft is a must whether in commercial or military aerospace areas
  • Experience managing, supervising and/or directing workgroups
  • A successful track record and experience with process improvement in maintenance and/or production environments
  • Experience in positions requiring budget understanding, resource forecasting and management, and workload planning in maintenance environments
  • Ability to work in a fast paced start-up environment
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally to support operational needs and be on-call
  • Applicants must be U.S. persons as defined by the ITAR (22 CFR §120.15)

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Strong mechanical systems background and show ability to learn and become proficient on new and/or customized equipment
  • Good oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management
  • Displays sound judgment, with the ability to make accurate and timely decisions
  • Must possess strong motivational, organizational, interpersonal and computer skills.
  • Sound ability to interpret printed or electronic maintenance manuals
  • Ability to adapt to paperless environment, using tablets to receive and record maintenance tasks via MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) software; Prior MRO software experience is a plus
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast paced start-up environment

Physical and/or Additional Requirements:

  • Must be able to work all shifts and available for overtime as well as weekends when needed.
  • Must be able to travel 25% or more of the time and/or be on call as needed.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods – 8 hours min.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and being able to maneuver in tight spaces- 3+ hours min.
  • Physically able to handle items weighing up to 40lbs (unassisted).
